So, you’ve got your WordPress site up and running smoothly.  All of your plugins, widgets, forms, popups, etc just look amazing.  You’re website is starting to generate traffic.  Prospective clients are sending you requests for more information, regular client management is increasing, and you are just plain busy!

The list of back-end operations can pile up, including all of the pesky but necessary updating you may have to do.  It can be a challenge, even with calendar reminders, to take even a moment to go in and click “update” on your WordPress website.  Or, if you automate, you want to confirm that your backups and updates are actually occurring properly (I’m in this category).  Maybe you think that your website can get by for a couple of months without updating or maybe you just plain forgot!

Here a some very important reasons why you should be putting your website maintenance as a top priority in your business operations schedule:

  1. Increases Security – prevent hacking and decrease the vulnerability to your website
  2. Cool new features – you might be missing out on something exciting and new that you could add to make your website better!
  3. Speed – without the newest updates, your website will become sluggish. Slow website = poor SEO.
  4. Compatibility – You need to make sure that all of your plugins continue to remain compatible with each other or things get buggy or stop working all together!

Remember to always run a backup of your website before doing any kind of updates as well!
