Want to know what makes a great lead magnet?

It’s not pretty graphics or an amazing looking ebook. While the aesthetics do help, it’s not going to be the only thing that gets people on your list.

So what does matter?

1. Importance – does your audience need what you’re offering? Do they care about it? Without being able to answer this question, your lead magnet will not successfully bring in subscribers. Do some market research before you create one. If you have a list already, ask them. Poll your SM audience or a Facebook group with your ideal clientele.

2. Value – what you’re offering is important, but will it provide value after someone accesses it? You want to create something that can be quickly and easily implemented, nothing too complicated. If your goal is to grab the attention of possible people to buy an upcoming course, create an LM that provides some (not all) of the value from that course. That will leave them wanting more!

3. Solves a Problem – know you’re ideal client’s pain point. Your lead magnet should solve a problem of theirs. Not the whole problem (see #2), but part of it that can be easily fixed with what you are offering. Then, you can start to provide more value weekly

Bonus – think about how your audience is consuming information most of the time. Is it via blog or on social media? Video? Audio w/ slides? Tailor your lead magnet to how they consume their content.

A QUIZ!

Why? Psychologically people like to learn more and gain insight about themselves. They can be fun and engaging and help point you in the right direction of the given topic.

So, where to start? Come up with your idea, turn it into a quiz-style question and answer. Make sure you have:

  1. A compelling title that draws in your ideal audience
  2. Have between 8-15 questions. Less or more will decrease your opt-ins
  3. Engaging results (with pictures!) that allow your reader to learn something informative and give direction towards the end goal.
  4. A CTA that directs them to a higher offer of yours, your website, your blog – something that moves them to take more action.

Remember to have your welcome sequence setup within your ESP so you automatically begin the engagement process with your new subscribers!
