…you’ve ever felt like going back to your day job?

Or, laying on the couch for a month?

Or trying to get that last project done AND be a mom AND manage a household AND feel all the guilt that goes along with it?

Oh Yeah, I’ve had those days (weeks, sometimes a month!) too. I don’t try to hide the fact that things can get TOUGH. But here’s what I do when it ALL gets too much

  1. Walk away from the project(s) and take some time for myself. All too often we put ourselves last when we really should be putting ourselves FIRST! This allows us to have more space to serve others (family, friends, & clients) in a better mental and physical space
  2. I do something to shut my brain off such as reading, exercise, playing video games. If you have ADHD, like me, your brain is a constant hamster wheel of 20+ thoughts and ideas happening all at once. It’s exhausting. For me when I am super stressed or have a lot of anxiety, I have to do an activity that takes all of my focus to shut off that hamster wheel. I feel so much better afterward.
  3. Switch business tasks – sometimes just moving to something else can help take the pressure off that one thing that is stressing you out. Do not confuse this with procrastination…set a timer for 1-2 hours and work on something else. Then come back to that one challenging thing!

Switching things up for an ADHD brain can snap you out of your funk and help you to refocus when you’re ready to come back to the task at hand.

What’s a tip/something you do that helps you refocus, recharge, and get back to things sans the stress?
